Meet our dedicated practice owner, Austen D. Reid
It's important that the personality of the practice owner shines through when you visit your vet. Their passion and dedication to the health of your pets should be second to none and be reflected by every single member of the team.
At Palmerston Veterinary Group this is exactly what you can expect.
Austen D. Reid is the principal and owner of the Palmerston Veterinary Group, and he ensures the smooth running of the group as a whole.
Originally from a small village just outside Dundee, Austen qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1980 from Glasgow University. His passion for animals was apparent from a young age. He first decided that he wanted to be a veterinary surgeon at the age of four when he witnessed a local vet complete a pregnancy diagnosis on one of his father's livestock.
Austen has worked at the Palmerston Veterinary Group since 1982. He spends at least two days each week doing clinical work, but is mostly involved with the management and marketing of the group.
He is married to Deborah and has a daughter India who is studying medicine at St Georges Medical School in Tooting. Austen, Deborah and India have three rescue cats called Blackie, Ivy and Smurf and two very naughty Bengal cats Xena and Kimba. Austen's interests include amateur dramatics, but he is currently "resting".
In 1985, he decided to take a sabbatical and travel extensively around Australia; Austen is always happy to hear about your travelling experiences when you visit the practice.
As well as a love for animals, Austen is also an avid Gunner. He has a season ticket at the Emirates and tries to get along to as many games as he can to cheer on his beloved Arsenal.
Outside of the practice, you may find Austen fine dining, skiing or wine tasting.
